An environmental activist from Buenos Aires, Argentina, Sofía Nemenmann is one of the founders of Río Santa Cruz Sin Represas movement. The project started in 2013 aiming to protect Santa Cruz River, Patagonia, Argentina, from the construction of two mega hydro-electric dams.
Her path towards this started in Parque Nacional Patagonia, where she met the members of Patagonia Sin Represas team, her concern for the rivers was born. After years of activism in which she met, learned and participated in a variety of environmental projects in her country, Sofía is still working for the threatened río Santa Cruz river.
As an adventure-tourism and trekking guide and recreational teacher, Sofía is interested on generating an educational environment in Patagonia able to provide tools for the next generation of nature defenders.
